Ethiopia/South Sudan Update
May 2012
We planned a short furlough to visit supporting churches, get eye
doctor, dental and other medical checkups, as well as to help
Karon’s mother celebrate her 95th birthday. The tests have turned
out well and the birthday observance is past. However, please pray
for Frank as he is experiencing a considerable amount of discomfort
from shingles at the present time.
We were planning to return to Ethiopia in mid April but those plans
have been changed. We have some responsibility in helping to arrange
for the care of Karon’s mother as her care has become such that she
can no longer live at home, as well as some other family matters.
This also allowed us to be here for the memorial service of our
co-worker, Rex Switzer. The untimely death of Rex was due to his
falling ill in South Sudan where he was with the people and ministry
he loved. Rex was infected with three strains of malaria, one being
a kind that destroys the liver and kidneys, as well as other organs.
Please pray for Ginnie and also Jonathan and his family as they
return to Africa to continue in the Lord’s ministry.
We now plan to return to Ethiopia and the South Sudan work later in
the summer. We have much to be thankful for as our national
co-workers that have been trained continue the Lord’s work. Pray for
this young ministry in South Sudan. There continues to be fighting
between the North and the South over the oil reserves in the South.
I will be able to travel and visit more churches during the next
couple of months. You can contact me through the Mission Office:

We remain your go-laborers in
Ethiopia and South Sudan.
