Baptism - February 20, 2005
Sunday,
February 20, 2005 Fundamental Baptist Church of
Boulwando held its third baptism. As we are
awaiting a few more details to commence our building
project, we built a hanger to continue holding
services as well as a holding tank to perform the
baptisms.

We have
been there almost two years. We have had two other
baptisms and several different events. So it was
natural that our novelty has worn off with respect
to having white people present. This is a good
thing, as we can continue to concentrate on edifying
these new Christians and remain committed to
evangelizing those interested because of the
testimonies of their converted family and friends.

The first words of the Naba
when we first came to Boulwando resonated loud and
long in our ears this Sunday as we witnessed over
two hundred people present for our baptismal service
and celebration following, as he stated : “I am the
first Christian from living in my village and I want
to see my entire village come to Jesus Christ for
salvation.” With over one hundred professions of
faith and, now, fifty-three new believers following
the Lord in believers’ baptism, his desire is
slowly, by the grace of God, becoming a reality.
Here are some of
the twenty baptisms:

Yamba KONSIMBO, one of the
first converts in the village, was in charge of
preparing the meal. He did a great job of
preparation. (With three wives and fourteen
children, there was no doubt that he knew what he
was doing.) The men eat in one place, the ladies
under another tree and the children search for
yet another place to enjoy the meal. Here are some
pictures of our meal:

During the celebration time
several of the teenage girls and a few women moved
over to another tree where they commenced their
traditional dance; “la danse de fesse”. After a few
moments several of. the ladies asked Mary to
participate, which she willingly did.

Mary really enjoyed learning a little more of the
cultural customs of
the women of Boulwando |
We had a great
day. Thank you for your prayers for this
young church. |
