Prayer Letter
Special Note

Dear Friend,

Several people have asked how the unrest and fighting in Nigeria has affected us.  Fortunately for us, Jos is about a 6-7 hour drive from here.  So far, our area has been pretty free from unrest.

Although our city (Lokoja, Kogi State) is more than 50% Muslim, there are so many families who have one parent Muslim and one so-called Christian, that they say, how can we kill our own mother or father?  The few times there have been problems here, the Muslims brought in young ruffians from out of state and the military immediately stepped in (there is an army base just outside of town).

The problems in Nigeria are due to both religious (Muslim/Christian) and tribal conflicts (because one tribe tends to be Muslim and another Christian).  Muslims go into an area and try to take over in politics.  Our state has a Muslim governor.  There is a Sharia Court here.  So far, they don’t take Christians to court there, but I am sure they would like to start.

Thanks for your concern.

Also, we are thanking the Lord that Ellen’s eyes are back to normal 4 months after her fall, and that she has not had malaria or typhoid in over a year!  She is getting headaches every few weeks, and could use prayer for that.  Ross is doing great health-wise.

Your fellow-laborers in Christ,
Ross and Ellen Ligon
