BBFI Missionaries to

June 2003

Dear praying friends,

FAITH PROMISE MISSIONS MONTH EXCEEDED ALL OUR EXPECTATIONS.

Both churches used the entire month of June for Faith Promise Missions and the folks loved it. We had a Nigerian couple trained by an Independent Baptist Missionary and BBC Graduate come and present their call to start a church in Warri, Delta State here in Nigeria. Our people just fell in love with them. They will be our first Home Missions Project. Then we selected the Joyce family who are BBFI missionaries to Burkina Faso, as our Foreign Mission Project.

The Drama ministry team from New Haven presented the drama Out of Darkness in both churches and I was so moved I surrendered to be a missionary all over again. The Puppet ministry also presented several Missions Skits that I think the adults enjoyed as much as the children. The entire month was heaven blessed and the people couldn’t wait to start contributing to Faith Promise.

As it stands now with the offerings promised thus far in New Haven the people have committed 27,400 Naira a month or 328,400 Naira per year. The Uwani church promised to give 15,805 Naira a month or 189,660 Naira a year. To God be the glory for the great things He hath done! We know this amount will increase as people who traveled last week come back and take part.

ERNEST IGWILLO SAVED AFTER 13 YEARS OF PRAYER:

Ernest, better known as “Colorman,” for his sign painting, made our first 3 church signs, and the rubber stamps we used for our Gospel tracts when we started our first church in ‘90. Then in ‘91 he lettered our Toyota Van. I’ve been inviting him to come to church all these years. His wife Joy was one of the first to be baptized when we started the church in Uwani. Chinedu their youngest son, who’s in Fran’s class, has been pestering his Dad to come to church for months. His wife came with him on Saturday to see Pastor Paul who had the great privilege of leading Ernest to Christ. He came to church with his wife and children on Sunday. It’s great to know that God’s timing is perfect isn’t it? The Uwani Church has seen 29 people saved during the last three months and 5 baptized on June 22nd.

RADIO MINISTRY IS BRINGING NEW PEOPLE INTO THE CHURCHES.

Our time slot was changed from 9:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesdays and it seems to be a much better time period. As a result of the broadcast we’ve had people coming to both churches, and have received some very encouraging mail. Although Radio Nigeria has reduced the airtime allowed for religious broadcasts to fifteen minutes, while increasing the cost God is blessing this ministry in a great way. Almost everywhere I go someone tells me they’re listening to and enjoying the broadcasts.

When good things like this are happening it’s not surprising that Satan is nipping at our heels. We’re in the process of auditing the finances of the New Haven church and there are many discrepancies. We’ve had several meetings with Pastor Chidi, the Trustees and two men in the church who are accountants. we covet your prayers as we go through this difficult process. Please pray with us for wisdom and discernment and that God will be glorified in and through all that must be done.

Yours for Nigerian Souls,
