Sidebottom Prayer Letter

September 2008

Dear Friends,

The highlight of events since our last letter was the visit of Fikru, Hiwot and her mother, Menbere, from Ethiopia. Fikru and Hiwot were very good students in our Bible College. Fikru now works for World Vision as a Food Resource Manager and is often sent into troubled countries to establish programs to help the people help themselves. He and Hiwot presently live in Swaziland, South Africa. Fikru has only a few years before retirement. When that time comes he feels God is leading him to return to Ethiopia to continue the Bible College ministry which we started. To prepare for this, in addition to the classes he took under us, he is completing his Master's from Louisiana Baptist University and hopes to complete his Doctor's degree by then.
Everywhere Fikru and Hiwot go they witness, win souls and teach to strengthen churches and to organize one if there is none. God has blessed them personally with a wonderful family. Their oldest son is doing his internship to be a Medical Doctor. Their second son teaches in the University of Nursing. Their daughter is the youngest and will remain here in The States and is beginning her College studies.
During the week they were with us we took them to Springfield to see Baptist Bible College, the Mission Office and former Ethiopian Missionaries who now live there. They often expressed deep appreciation for the fact that we missionaries would leave the comforts of The U.S. and that churches would give so that we could take The Gospel to Ethiopia.
Pray for Fikru and his family. He is certainly a missionary in his own right and Phyllis and I are like proud parents to see our fruit, and YOUR fruit, bearing fruit and laboring for The Lord on their own.

Yours in Christ for Ethiopia,
