Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Smith’s in Arusha! I trust this finds you well. When
asked, “how are you?”, a common expression among the ex-pat community
is...”oh just pushing on.”
Well, it seems as if there has been a lot of “just pushing on” in the past
weeks. However, today I have the privilege to brag on one of our preacher
boys. He is not a boy, but rather a 35 year old man, married with four
kids, and had surrendered to preach about a year ago. He is in training.
Anyway, Cyprian Michael and our sound man Livingston, packed up all the
video equipment and went to Moshi 75 kms away to have a 3 day “cinema
meeting” with Pastor Munisy of the Bible Baptist Church of Mji mwema. This
is a new branch meeting in a rented room. Thursday night they had over 200
people for the first film. Friday night more than 300 people viewed the
Life of Christ (in Swahili), and then on Saturday, more than 500 people
watched the Last film of the series. The Gospel was clearly presented to a
Gospel hardened area. Sunday morning found Cyprian preaching to the normal
church crowd plus 12 visitors. Two adults accepted Christ as Savior.
Praise the Lord!
Many of you are familiar with Pastor Moses Dule of the Bible Baptist
Church of Mromboo. This coming Sunday is their 3rd birthday of the church.
Our church will have an early service from 8:30 – 9:30, and then we will
pile in local transport vans to make it to Mromboo for the 11 a.m. Service
and celebration. Please pray with us and for us this week as we prepare,
and also that this exposure of the church to the community will be yet
another step in the growth of the church. Moses and Mama Freddy have been
faithful and are continuing to be a witness and a light in their
community. We are proud of them. :)
Thanks for reading and for
praying. We appreciate your interest in the ministry here. God Bless and
give you a great week and weekend.
Yours in Arusha,
Vernon and
Mary Smith
