Prayer
Letter - Larry & Marty Stringfield July, 2009
Dear Prayer Partners,
PRAISE
While in the States, it
is necessary to send back funds to keep our house and ministry running. A
short while ago one of our watch dogs got seriously injured. Benard, our
compound manager, had to take Tana to the vet for surgery. With all the
excess funds needed to send to Kenya last month, I had to send $800.00 to
Kenya. Benard went to a bank to collect these funds. As he left the bank, a
car of four men with guns followed him. They forced him into their car, beat
him with their fists and with the butts of their guns. They said, “You have
money and we know it. Give us all the money or we will make you take us to
your house and then kill you and your family. ” Benard had no choice but to
give them the $800.00. They threw him out of the car. Praise the Lord Benard
was not seriously hurt. I talked to him over the phone when he called crying
and scared. I asked him to calm down and take a few deep breaths. When I
could tell he was calmer, I shared with him, “Benard, calm down. God is
bigger than all of this. The miracle is you were not killed. One can replace
money, but not a person’s life.” He asked how were we to get the money to
pay for all the bills and I let him know, “Sijui, lakini Mungu anajua.” I
don’t know but God knows.
We shared with you in a
recent prayer letter that our youngest church had to leave their temporary
building they were renting for four years and move to our front yard. We
placed a canvas between two containers for the church to meet under. A
couple of weeks ago the canvas split. The believers had no where to go. This
is our winter time in Kenya where they can get some very cool days. The
leaders of the church took out funds from their building fund to purchase
corrugated metal sheets and repaired the damaged area. Praise the Lord for a
church that is practicing what they were taught!
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- I had to borrow the $800.00 to resend to Benard so he could pay our
financial obligations. Please pray that the Lord will supply these funds
needed to repay this loan.
- Kenya is currently going through a serious drought. Our people plant
and harvest by the rains. Food stuffs is beginning to be affected.
Please pray for rain. Please remember by health in your prayers.
We want to thank you for your faithfulness for the month of March through
May that enabled us in reaching the lost in Kenya.
Your missionaries to the unreached people of Kenya,
Larry and Marty Stringfield
